This course addresses patterns that occure in these business areas:
- Process Management – tracking items through a set of stages.
- Workflow Management – managing and tracking tasks or items through defined steps.
- Lifecycle Management – especially if the item has a start, middle, and end (e.g., a case, job, or application).
- Work-in-Progress (WIP) Tracking – common in manufacturing or service industries to track items and their stage of completion.
- Pipeline Analysis – used in sales, recruitment, manufacturing, and project management.
- Cohort Analysis – often used when tracking items (or people) over time, grouped by a shared characteristic (e.g., entry date, cohort).
- Stage-based Analytics – analyzing how many items are at each stage over time.
- Time-in-State Analysis – understanding how long items stay in a stage and how many are active at a given time.
- Throughput Tracking – how many items pass through a system in a given time period.
- Production Flow Management – in manufacturing.
